Supporting a medical consultant as an accountant, financial controller or practice managers, is not just about getting the BAS and payrolll sorted out, although that is is an essential role. Are your clients making as much money as they should be? How are you able to assess that?

I offer clinical audits of medical practices to pinpoint missed billing opportunities by looking at how procedures and consultations have been billed and whether or not a potential item number has been missed. I can also review the submission of hospital claims and I specialise in exceptions and getting that money into the bank account instead of hanging in the software system.

Clinical audits are an essential undertaking to ensure that the practice is compliant with regulations for medical administration and medical record keeping to maintain the standards set out by the Health Insurance Commission.

To undertake a clinical audit, specialist knowledge is required with a deep understanding of the MBS rules, industry standards, ethical requirements and much more.

I can provide clinical audits in conjunction with accountants, financial controllers and practice managers, to help you make sense of the numbers and find your client more money in practice.

A clinical audit begins with a review of the practice analysing reports within the software used by the practice in conjunction with financial reports utilised by you, the accountant. A comprehensive report is provided outlining potential billing opportunities, outlining where the practice is losing money, advising on change of procedures and much more.

Remote access to the practice software will be required and this allows me to undertake audits all across Australia.

Terms

I require an engagement fee of $2,00.00 (plus GST) and I will begin the audit. It usually takes a week to undertake a full review of the practice, it’s financials, key earnings areas, staff costs, equipment costs etc. Once I have undertaken the review I am better positioned to provide an opinion with regards to key areas of concern.

It is the earnings area of the business that my clinical and practice management knowledge can be fully utilised to give an opinion as to where potential earnings are being lost or not collected efficiently.

An overview report will be supplied within two weeks of engagement with my opinion and recommendations.

If the audit requires more than a week to undertake this will be discussed after the first day or so as I become familiar with the data and scope of the practice to be audited.
